In our Industry Insights series, we look at the various current challenges facing individual industries and the levers that can be used to overcome them.

This time, we are looking at the caravan and motorhome manufacturing industry. This was one of the few winners of the coronavirus pandemic. While many other companies had to shut down their production as the sales market collapsed, caravans and motorhomes experienced a revival after the first lockdown. This led to an exorbitant increase in demand for them, resulting in delivery delays and price increases. After the record year of 2021, sales of new vehicles are already declining again in terms of volume. However, the value trend remains positive at +12.1% in 2023. Prices have risen by almost 35% in the last two years. This scenario also harbors the risk of falling into a price-sales trap in the medium term, in which demand suddenly collapses. It is now important to react to the new market dynamics at an early stage in order to benefit from the new trends in the coming years with correspondingly flexible offers and demand-oriented production.
